Committed friends of jazz and country music, competition ballroom dancing and of magic founded the Sächsische Festival Vereinigung e.V. (SFV) on July 26, 1990 in Dresden. The motive was the keeping and the aid of the then existing 20-year-old International Dixieland Festival as well as the Ballroom Dancing, Country and Magic Festival in Dresden.

Today, after 18 years of the work of the SFV, the main focus is on the preparation, organization and realization of the International Dixieland Festival in Dresden.

Since 1971 the yearly performed festival has developed into an internationally emanating cultural event of Saxony. More than 500,000 friends of Dixieland make Dresden the European capital of Dixieland during the festival days every year.

More than 7 Million visitors have experienced more than 800 bands with 6,358 jazz musicians from 32 countries of 4 continents in 5,645 hours of hot rhythms live since then.

Numerous accreditations of journalists, photo reporters and agencies from Europe, Asia, North and South America as well as Australia broadcast by word, photo and sound about the festival worldwide.

The close coordination of all sponsors, supporters, organizers and assistents involved with the festival is important for the continuous success of the festival. Under the leadership of Joachim Schlese - co-founder of this festival and simultaneously CEO of the SFV - all members and friends of the SFV contribute in great commitment with their voluntary work and therefore assure the success of the festival.

„Für Sachsens schönste Festivals“ (For Saxony‘s most beautiful festivals) being the theme manifold opportunities arise to support our work. Nearly 150 members of the SFV are active worldwide and support the festival ideally, financially and with individual commitment.
